AgriBusiness BootCamp 2017


12 February, 2017 (Kathmandu): With a view to promote agribusiness entrepreneurship and innovation in Nepal, the Nepal Entrepreneurs’ Hub (NEHUB) is organizing the Agribusiness BootCamp 2017. The one-of-its kind event will be held in Kathmandu during the month of March and April.

The BootCamp is an intensive week long training/mentoring program designed for existing entrepreneurs involved in agribusiness as well as startups. The sessions will help selected entrepreneurs grow from existence to sustainability and scale as well as startups to transfer ideas from mind to market – with a plan for financial returns. The Bootcamp is a complete package that includes specialized talks, meetups, workshops, training and mentoring designed for existing enterprises and new ideas as well.

NEHUB will utilize an innovative and multi-funneling approach to screen and shortlist applicants to feed them to the Agribusiness BootCamp 2017. A focused event will be held whereby 20 established businesses with the best agribusiness acumen will be selected from a top pool after rigorous interview and evaluation for the BootCamp. Also, agribusiness focused Startup Weekend Kathmandu will be held for new/startup enterprises and individuals and the best 5 ideas will be selected and shortlisted.

A total of these 25 businesses will then enter the Agribusiness BootCamp, a weeklong program where participants learn critical thinking exercise and business frameworks to build a sustainable venture in the agribusiness supply chains. The participants will gain concrete skills of evolving their business in agriculture with insight from industry experts addressing supply chain management, supplier development, value-addition, marketing and partnerships, etc. Following this, the top 20 teams will additionally receive one-on-one mentoring sessions to help transform them from growth-oriented agribusinesses to growth-ready agribusinesses all set to begin investing in and executing their innovative approaches. After intensive mentoring, the top 20 teams will be handed over to the upcoming AgriBusiness Innovation Centre (ABIC)[1].


Organizer: NEHUB, a nonprofit organization is involved in nurturing entrepreneurship, supporting startup communities, contributing towards a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and facilitating investment in budding, small and medium businesses.

AgriBusiness Innovation Centre Nepal (ABIC-Nepal) is an initiative of Practical Action Consulting with support of Project for Commercial Agriculture and Trade and The World Bank Group.  ABIC-Nepal nurtures and supports growth-oriented agribusinesses holistically through business advisory and services, market access, technology linkages, access to finance for making them successful. ABIC will commence its operations from April 2017.
